Pillboxes gunposts and shelters.

There were twelve pillbox positions on the inner ring of airfield defences twelve FC type mushroom and brick lined gunpits completed the defence system. All of these were controlled by the main Battle Headquarters bunker in the event of the airfield coming under attack by airborne or gliderborn troops. Other known outer perimeter pillboxes were situated on the approaches to the village and airfield.
